What's On

Tasting Menu London: Seven Courses with Wine Pairing

Friday and Saturday evenings at Smith's Bar & Grill, Paddington Central.

Head Chef David Reyes and his seven-course tasting menu are the kitchen at full stretch, and one of the better value tasting menus in London for what arrives on the table. Maldon rock oysters, hand-dived Dover scallops, Scottish beef dry-aged for 28 days, and a dessert worth staying for. The menu moves with the seasons and with whatever came in that week.

£55 per person. Wine pairing £35.

The Wine Pairing

Optional, and worth taking. Head Sommelier Maurizio Titone matches a glass to each course, drawing on a list that runs from the by-the-glass selection through to some of the finest Burgundy and Barolo in London. If you would rather drink one bottle across the evening, he will find you the right one.

When

Every Friday and Saturday from 6pm until 10pm. Allow two and a half to three hours. There is live music on both nights, sitting underneath the evening rather than over it.

Booking

The tasting menu must be booked in advance and the whole table needs to be on it, so the kitchen can time the courses together. Tell us about allergies or dietary requirements when you reserve and the kitchen will build around them, including a full vegetarian version.

Where

25 Sheldon Square, Paddington Central, London W2 6EY, above the Grand Union Canal. A short walk from Paddington Station, which makes it an easy tasting menu to get to and an easier one to get home from. Full directions.
