The Perfect Espresso Martini Recipe
Recreate Smith's espresso martini at home, or sit at the marble bar and let us make it.
Now a classic, the Espresso Martini was created in the late 80s here in London by Dick Bradsell. The combination of slightly bitter espresso with the light, citrusy sweetness of vodka still surprises people.
If you are looking to recreate it at home, here is Smith's version.
Ingredients
50ml vodka
35ml coffee liqueur
1 shot (25ml) freshly brewed espresso
Ice
Garnish: coffee beans
Method
Pour the vodka, coffee liqueur, freshly brewed espresso and ice into a cocktail shaker. Shake it vigorously: the ice smashing into the liquid is what creates that luxurious froth.
Fine-strain through a sieve into a chilled cocktail glass so the foam sits cleanly on top. Garnish with three coffee beans.
Or skip the prep and join us at the marble bar in Paddington, where the mixologists have been pouring this one since we opened. Pair it with dinner in the restaurant, or with happy hour Mon-Thu 5pm-6:30pm and Fri-Sat 3pm-12am.
